Thank You for Everything! May God Bless Each of You Abundantly!
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 2/22/2016 I felt like I needed to put one last entry into CaringBridge. It's been two weeks since Elaine went to be with Jesus and her dad in heaven. As you can imagine it is very difficult for me to be left here without her. I never imagined when we started this journey against cancer that it would end with any other outcome other than Elaine going into remission. I just could not believe that my only child
End of Elaine's Earthly Journey
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 2/9/2016 This final journal entry is not being written by Laura. It is being written by someone who has been Laura's friend for more than 40 years. Saturday, February 6, 2016, Elaine passed away. Her battle was tough and she was courageous. As we all recognize, God's timing is not always in accordance with our timing but His way is always the right way. We will not understand in this lifetime nor will we ever ce
There's No Place Like Home
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 1/27/2016 Elaine and I have been enjoying (extreme sarcasm) the last week at The Chilton and I expect we will be here several more days. We have spent the better part of the month of January at The Chilton. This is our third stay since Christmas. The first stay began the Sunday after Christmas. We went to the emergency room because Elaine was having extreme pain that was not able to be controlled with the pai
Make It Count
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 1/2/2016 2015 was a very painful year. Since Elaine was diagnosed on May 14th with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma we have been battling this aggressive cancer. I have posted updates on this site always trying to keep a positive spin on what we were going through because I am hopeful and I do believe 100% in Jesus and His ability to heal Elaine either miraculously or through the team of doctors and nurses that love
We Wish You a Merry Christmas!
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 12/9/2015 It's been a while since I posted an update. I apologize if you have been wondering how Elaine is doing. Elaine has been doing well. We had a great Thanksgiving. Elaine felt good. We certainly gave thanks for each of you. We are so thankful that God has placed Elaine on your heart and that you are praying for her and us as we journey through the rollercoaster of the unknown. We are coming to the e
Pray Like it Depends on Him and Work Like it Depends on You
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 11/7/2015 I apologize that it has been so long since the last update. While grateful for the significant improvement in the foot, the new places in the hip and the regress in the shoulder did pull the rug out from under us a little so we had to regroup but like "Weebles" we may wobble but won't fall down! (For those of you Elaine's age that may be reading this google weebles wooble.) We will keep on and never
Our Fight Continues
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 10/15/2015 Elaine had the PET Scan yesterday (Wednesday) and we sat down and talked with the doctor. The results were not exactly what we had hoped but not entirely bad news. The foot does not even light up on the PET Scan at this point which is great, great news. The shoulder however lights up as bright as the first PET Scan and is worse. There are more areas in her shoulder than before and it is in the bon
Quick Scan Update - More Tomorrow
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 10/13/2015 We had a snafu today with the PET scan. No contrast was ordered so we had to reschedule the PET scan for tomorrow. We did, however, get the results of the MRIs and the chest CT.
Praise goes first to God that the right foot shows significant improvement. The foot tumor is definitely smaller in size. I don't have the exact from and to dimensions but I should tomorrow. I am also very thankful tha
Scans Next Week - Please Pray
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 10/6/2015 A quick update from The Chilton. We will be rescanning next week. On Monday, October 12th Elaine will have a MRI of her foot, a MRI of her shoulder and a CT Scan of her lungs. On Tuesday, October 13th Elaine will have a PET Scan. We will discuss the results of all the scans Tuesday. Please pray that these results are favorable and that they show we are making significant progress fighting the cancer
Hupomone
From Elaine's CaringBridge Site Journal entry by Laura Roberts — 9/29/2015 It's Homecoming in Alabaster and that means a week filled with fun festivities. Elaine was invited to the Homecoming Dance so we are taking a break from treatment this week so Elaine can feel good for Homecoming this week. Our plan is for Elaine to go to the Homecoming parade on Wednesday, the game on Friday and the dance on Saturday. How did this all come about you ask? So last week I was approache
